Moment Capacity Report

This report shows the moment capacity check results . These results include the moment capacity and cracking moment values. The maximum moment and minimum moment requirements are shown in different rows.

The POI and Location columns show the name and location of the POI. The Mu column shows the moment demand, which includes only the secondary moment for the post-tensioning (PT). If the maximum demand is negative, it is reported as 0.00. Likewise, if the minimum moment is positive, it is reported as 0.00.

The Phi*Mn column shows the moment capacity value as calculated based on the code specification equations. Note that this calculation ignores the compression steel. Furthermore, the tendon area is considered for positive moment capacity if located below the CG of the section, and for negative moment capacity if located above it.

The 1.2*Mcr column shows the cracking moment factored up by 20%. When considering positive moment, this value is based on the positive moment that will cause cracking (likely at the bottom of the section), and when considering negative moment, it is based on the negative, moment causing cracking (likely at the top of the section). The cracking stress is limited to the modulus of rupture. If each section does not have any tendon as tensile reinforcement, then the value of 1.2*Mcr is reported as 0.00.

The Cap/Mu column shows the controlling capacity/demand ratio. The capacity is this ratio is the Phi*Mn. If the 1.2*Mcr is larger than the Mu, then the value of Mu is the lesser of 1.2*Mcr and 1.33 Mu, otherwise it is the reported Mu.

The graphical version of this report shows Mu, Phi*Mn and 1.2*Mcr, but the value of 1.2*Mcr in the graph is limited to 1.33*Mu.
